Aging Well Survey: Share Your Views

20 July 2022

Telford and Wrekin Council, together with a wide range of our local partner organisations are launching a borough-wide “Ageing Well” consultation, asking residents over the age of 50 to share their views on the support they need to age well.

This comes as the latest Census information tells us that between 2011 and 2021 the number of people in the borough aged 65+ increased by 35.7 per cent.

This was the greatest increase of all upper tier local authorities in the West Midlands and compares to an increase across England as a whole of 20.1 per cent (source: ONS Census 2021).

Healthwatch Telford and Wrekin is backing the initiative by working jointly to promote the questionnaire.

Barry Parnaby, chair of the board, said: “We are proud to be hosting the questionnaire on behalf of this multi-disciplinary working group, seeking feedback from people across the district to contribute towards the Ageing Well Strategy.

“Please take the time to complete this important survey and share your views.”

By giving your views, this will help inform the Ageing Well Strategy and subsequent action plan.

Councillor Andy Burford, Telford and Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for adult social care and health, integration and transformation, said: “We want to enable people in Telford and Wrekin to live well and independently for longer, as they approach later life.

“Together with Healthwatch and other local organisations, we are asking everyone in our borough over the age of 50 to tell us what would help them to enjoy a healthier, happier life.

“The borough-wide survey covers a range of topics for residents over 50 to honestly let us and our partner organisations know what they need in later life in our borough.

“We will use these views to create a more age-friendly Telford and Wrekin and improve the opportunities and information available for our people and their families.

“Please, if you are over the age of 50, take ten minutes to fill in this survey.

“We are also grateful for everyone’s support to share the “Ageing Well” consultation questionnaire as widely as possible. The more people over the age of 50 take part, the better we can shape and plan for the future.”

The survey will run until Friday September 16 2022.
